Why you should make training fun

You know that feeling when you walk into the gym with absolutely zero motivation? Not even a slight want to put one foot in front of the other, pick up the heavy object, etc. etc.

I have a remedy for you.

Try a bunch of modes of training for 3 weeks straight.

Sign up for a new class, try a new sport, join a local running club, try it all! Take 3 weeks to do some trial runs. Keep it fun, keep it interesting.

Why?

Our minds get tired of executing the monotonous tasks day in and day out. If you never switch things up or throw yourself a curveball, you’ll never increase your intensity.

And here’s the kicker…why not choose something outlandish to train for out of all of these trials?

Something so out of the ordinary that there’s never a dull moment.

Run the trials, find that thing that makes you tick, and get after it.

When I decided to take on this year of training for the pole vault, the days felt action packed and most always entertaining.

I look forward to putting in the work (most days) and it gives me a crazy interesting story to tell when I meet new people.

Where else can you launch yourself nearly two stories in the air on a normal day?? And stay fit and happy while doing it 😀 

So, I encourage you to try some new activities, do some research, and decide to train for something new.

Staying in shape will never feel easier when you can’t stop smiling during the session.
