Do Something Different

Why you'll forget the boring things

Close your eyes for just a second (bear with me here).

I want you to imagine you’re on your deathbed. You’re lucky enough to be surrounded by the ones you love and the people who’ve had the greatest impact on your life.

As you reflect on what you’ve left behind you, what are you envisioning?

  • That spontaneous trip you took with a new lover?

  • That odd job you took just to learn from a role model?

  • That marathon you trained months for and finally finished?

The hypotheticals go on and on. What are the things you won’t necessarily remember?

  • How many hours of work you averaged in a week?

  • Your highest job title held in the company?

  • How many followers you had?

I think my mind will likely run to the former. These are the moments in time that I look back on that I will never forget. And it’s all because I was deviating from the norm.

Go to school, get a job, party a bit, work hard, retire with a bit of money in an account…it doesn’t do it for me.

My greatest memories have all come from breaking a rule, making that cold call, taking that crazy job offer, traveling nonstop, and just doing things that most people don’t do.

And everyone’s style of making memories is different. You just have to take a second to reflect on what really does it for you and what really lights up your brain. More on that below 👇️

We all have big goals this 2024…net worth, relationships, career, health & fitness, etc. Moving forward, I will be taking on a few clients for personal training. If you’re looking to gain some muscle, drop a few pounds, or just build a lasting health & fitness lifestyle in 2024, sign up for a free consultation call below. Let’s see if we can work together!

I want to be clear…take full responsibility for your life. Support and take care of yourself first. Become independent, build a safety net for yourself, but remember to make time for those things that trigger the feeling of, “I’m going to remember this for the rest of my life.”

And what might that look like for you? That’s something you’ll have to think long and hard about.

Try asking, “What memories stand out from my past?” “Where was I most fulfilled in my life?” “When was I consistently smiling?”

Now…do more of whatever the hell you were doing in these moments^ Life is too short to leave all of that behind.

And there are different points in my life where I knew my actions were a bit different from others. But I’ll continue to tell those stories until the day I die (shoot me a DM and I’ll surprise you with one or two 😄 ).

Currently, I don’t know many people working in management consulting who pole vault competitively, help coach, and share the journey on social media…it’s my different…but I absolutely love it.

I’m working toward becoming the man I’ve always wanted to become, but I’m building everlasting memories along the way.

So what’s that one thing that keeps calling you? Listen out for it.

Have you always wanted to start an art studio? Maybe give surfing lessons out in Hawaii? Or even bartend on the side?

Whatever it is, embrace the different. Don’t listen to the haters or the ones who simply don’t understand why you would deviate from the norm.

Choose what fires you up and just do it. For nobody else but yourself. Build memories you know will be talked about on your deathbed…because those are the ones that will always be worth it.

Here’s to being a bit different…embrace it my friends ❤️
