Protein Hacks for Travel
How to never miss a beat on the road
Trust me…I get it. We travel, we eat out, we get out of our routine, we f*** up. BUT that doesn’t mean we can’t build some new habits that ensure we nail our goals on the road.
Last week, I sent out a guide to eating out.
It was all about how to prioritize the correct foods when you find yourself in a restaurant on the road or out with friends.
This week, I want to cover how to grab a snack on the road or a quick meal at a gas station all while maintaining your nutrition goals. Stick around for some guidelines and examples.
We all have big goals heading into 2024…net worth, relationships, career, health & fitness, etc. Moving into the new year, I will be taking on a few clients for personal training. If you’re looking to gain some muscle, drop a few pounds, or just build a lasting health & fitness lifestyle moving into the new year, sign up for a free consultation call below. Let’s see if we can work together!
General Guidelines
When hitting the gas station on the road, I typically go for 3 things:
Protein (~50-90 grams / snack haul)
Low Sugar
Fiber (Packaged fruits or veggies)
If I can hit all of these in my one trip, I’m golden. I’m feeling clean, I’m hitting my protein goals, and I’m not setting myself back while on the road.
An example of a haul like this would be Core Power Elite (42g of protein), fruit cup, beef jerky. I’ll attach a list of items to look out for in the gas station as well.
Of course, it’s not perfect but it’s good enough. Ideally, we’re eating whole foods and knowing exactly what is going into the meal / snack. But if you’re unable to meal prep and find yourself needing to hit the gas station, go for good enough…not perfect.
Gas Station Snack Examples:
Quest Products
Legendary Snacks
Core Power Elite
Beef Jerky
Greek Yogurt
Pork Rinds
Canned Tuna
Cottage Cheese
Barebells Protein Bars
FITCRUNCH Protein Bars
Packaged fruit / veggies (or single purchase)
Packaged salad
Keep it simple. Don’t overcomplicate, follow these guidelines, and stay on track to those goals 😄 Let’s keep going!
